Glen
Hunter Guide Service
Lake Okeechobee, Florida
Fishing Trip Information
Dear Friend:
T hank you for considering Lake Okeechobee on your visit
to Florida. Hope we will get to meet while you are here. I will try to give you a brief description of the
lake and conditions you will find here.
T he lake is 750 square miles, which makes it the second largest
fresh water lake wholly within the U.S. Its structure is made almost totally of weed beds,
with an average depth of approximately twelve feet, but most water fished will be from
three to eight feet in depth. Lake Okeechobee is noted for its tremendous ability to
produce bass in large numbers.
M any of our clients find bringing their own tackle is a real
inconvenience, especially when flying. We will be happy to supply rods and reels at NO
COST to you. The only thing you would need to purchase is one or two of the lures
fish are hitting best. When on the water, if your guide finds another lure is working
better, you can use his. We do ask if you lose it, please replace it when you come off the
water.
W ild shiner fishing is the method of choice of most of our
clients and also the guides. Any good guide is interested in his clients catching fish,
not him, so every fish that is caught is by you. Good guides never fish shiners in
competition with their people.
W ild shiners will probably produce at least 100 bass over 7 lbs.
to one on artificial lures, and this estimate may be conservative. So if you are wanting a
bass for the wall, wild shiners are the way to go.
G len is also the author of the book Advanced Shiner
Techniques (written by Bassmaster Senior Writer, Tim Tucker). This is the
only complete shiner book on the market. If you would like more detailed information,
just click on the image below.

G len Hunter Guide Service has been featured in articles in Bassmaster,
Field and Stream, Fishing Facts, Bassin, plus shows on ESPN TV and most South Florida
newspapers. Most of these articles were about Glen and his guides producing large bass on
his new weighted rig, using wild shiners.
Video
G len Hunter Guide Service offers a seven minute professional
video which is narrated by world renown Curt Gowdy and was filmed and edited by Tom
Miranda, host of TV's Outdoor Adventure Magazine which is seen on many cable
TV stations including ESPN TV.
The Fishing Day
Our fishing day consists of eight
hours on the water. Over the years we have found that during the winter
(spawning) months, the straight day can produce more fish because the fish will
feed when the water warms up in the middle of the day.
The split day in warmer weather can be more productive.
This will be divided as 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening.
Air Boats Rides Available

W e will be happy to make lodging arrangements or any other
service you might require during your stay. All lodging is first class to make your stay
more enjoyable.
Location
W e are located approximately 70 miles from both coasts, almost
centered between Fort Myers on the west and West Palm Beach on the east. Although our
address is Okeechobee, we are actually in a small community called Lakeport,
which is located on the west side of the lake near the center. Lakeport is clearly marked
on most road atlases.
Disney World is 150 miles, Miami is 120 miles, and Tampa is
150 miles.
Reservations
A $100 deposit of your daily guide
rate is required. If notified within 10 days of your fishing time, we will
return your deposit. If you make reservations for 3 people in one boat and one
person cant come, there is no penalty. That money will be applied to the 2
person rate you then pay. Our guides will fish any weather you want to fish, but
when it gets really bad we dont feel it makes a customer very happy to be
forced to fish or lose his money.
We collect the balance due by cash or travelers checks. We
appreciate hearing comments about our guide service and lodging.

"Not only is Glen Hunter a fun guy to fish with, he is also one of the most
prepared and resourceful guides in America. He has never failed to produce good fishing
during the many times we've fished together and that can be attributed to his work ethic
and fishing instincts honed by years on Lake Okeechobee. He is one of the elite guides on
the Big O and one of the top guides in the country."
